Hygienic Water Fasting Q&A

I have been getting a lot of questions about my fast, so I’ve decided to answer them all in one place for you to enjoy. Thanks for all your curiosity and support!

What is a water fast?
The goal of my fast is to rest as much as possible. I will be eliminating as much stimulation from my life as possible. I will not be consuming anything other than pure water for the duration of my fast, and I will be spending as much time horizontal as I can.

How long will you be fasting for?
I will be fasting for one day at a time and seeing how it goes. My guess is that I will fast around 3-4 weeks and then slowly re-feed and recover for at least 10 days – 2 weeks.

When will you be fasting?
I will begin April 5, 2016 and continue until I have broken my fast and reefed before connecting back with the digital world. This will likely be around mid May.

Where will you be fasting?
I will be fasting in the Santa Ynez Valley in California.

Are you doing a supervised fast?
Although I will be fasting on my own, I will have a fasting supervisor that I will be checking in with daily.

Where can I learn more about fasting?
Dr. Doug Graham does a nice article on fasting here.
Joel Fuhrman’s book Fasting and Eating for Health
Also, this website has some good information

I’m interested in doing a supervised fast. Where would you recommend?
TrueNorth Health Center in California (offers medically supervised fasts)

There are also other natural hygiene fasting supervisors that I would recommend such as:
Dr. Doug Graham (no retreats currently scheduled)
Lauren Lockman (ongoing retreats in Costa Rica)
